Taking care of God's Children
Greetings from Haiti—
On February 23rd we hired 6 Haitian "mommies.” They work in shifts to provide 24/7 care at a 4:1 ratio for the medical needs children who come to Mission of Hope. Please keep these women in your prayers; they are the first contact the children have as they begin the new adventure God has for them! The Orphanage Director of Mission of Hope personally hired each "mother" and said it was a miracle to find such wonderful women after less than a dozen interviews. Praise the Lord for providing each lady to care for the kids!
On Feb 22nd, we received our first child in need, Smider Cilly, and two days later received our second, Job Jeremie! First and foremost, we praise the Lord for the honor of serving His kids!

Smider Cilly was born Nov. 29, 2009 and has been diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. His mother abandoned Smider at Mission of Hope and the baby was placed immediately into our care. It took one week to get his birth certificate created. We are now waiting for his passport and travel visa. In addition to the Hydrocephalus, Smider seems to be malnourished. Please pray for his health.

Job Jeremie was the second little boy placed in our care. Much of Job’s background is unknown. He was cared for on the U.S.N.S. Comfort ship for his great medical needs. He has skin cancer that has infected his right eye. His records from Comfort estimated him at 11 years old; however, in the birth certificate we created for him Job’s age is recorded as 8 years old. Job is a very precious boy needing a lot of attention and care. It is obvious that he wasn't cared for well. When he arrived at Mission of Hope he would hide his face from people and would take his food into a corner to eat—using only his hands. But now, after only a week and a half, he is eating with silverware and running up to us when we see him! What a joy!
As you pray will you lift up the following prayer points:
The process we are going through for each boy before they can arrive in their new homes
The families that will be taking each boy into their homes and family life
Each child’s specific health issues
The “mommies” at Mission of Hope
Our team to continue to have God’s wisdom as we make decisions
We pray blessings to each and every one of you for your prayers and support through this journey.
Because He is faithful and good,
